The Autism Aviators program was started in Canada by Halifax Stanfield International Airport and Autism Nova Scotia, both of whom provided great assistance for the Edmonton Program. Autism Edmonton and EIA intend to continue this program to make flying accessible to as many people with autism as possible in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.
We also offer our Autism Aviators a special lanyard to wear while travelling that helps our staff identify the aviator. These lanyards can be picked up at our Information Booth that is located on the arrivals level of EIA across from Door 7.
The Information Booth is open during the following times:
- Mon-Friday 08:00-00:00
- Saturday 09:00-20:00
- Sunday & Holidays 09:00-00:00
If you are travelling outside of those times, other arrangements can be made by calling the info booth at 780 890 8382.
On June 15, 2019 EIA partnered with Autism Edmonton, Flair and Canadian North Airlines to create a mock travel day for 38 Autism Aviators and their families. See the news release from the event here.
*we are working on our next event, stay tuned to this page for more info.
