What’s better than going on holiday somewhere? Going on a holiday you won! YEG and our partners frequently run contests to win travel, parking or dining vouchers.
Who wants to win free stuff? Silly question, you do of course.
Edmonton International Airport runs a variety of contests at different times during the year, see the current list below. Sadly, sometimes Internet scammers and other fraudsters try to impersonate us on social media or online when we run contests. Here’s some tips on what to look for and how to avoid fraudsters.
- One of the easiest ways to spot a fake is when our name is wrong or has extra characters and symbols in it. So, if you see an account with Aiirport in its name – that’s not us. Only follow accounts that say Edmonton International Airport, FlyYEG, FlyYEG, or Fly_YEG (instagram).
- We will never send you a friend request or follow request on social media.
- We will NEVER ask you for your credit card information!
- Winners are always announced on the same social media post where the contest started and for verification, so you really know, winners are also posted on our website here.
When in doubt if it’s us, don’t engage, send us a direct message on social media and ask. We don’t mind you asking.
If you do see a fake YEG account, please report it to us and also report it on that social media channel.
We all make mistakes, it happens, if you have been a victim of a fraud account, or you suspect your account has been compromised, here’s some advice on actions you can take for each channel.
