Health, safety and security at YEG
Health, safety and security continue to be our number one priorities at Edmonton International Airport.
GBAC Star
Edmonton International Airport is part of a collaborative effort including Explore Edmonton, Roger Place and the Edmonton Destination Marketing Hotels (EDMH) to obtain city-wide GBAC STAR™ Facility Accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council™ (GBAC). This program focuses on infectious disease prevention, cleaning, disinfection, and outbreak response.
To obtain GBAC STAR Accreditation, facilities must demonstrate compliance with 20 specific elements including maintaining strict cleaning protocols, disinfection techniques, infectious disease prevention planning, staff training, and more.
Our partnership in this accreditation is one more way we’re supporting a strong return for our visitor economy and tourism.
Visit their website for more information.
Emergency Services and Security
Edmonton International Airport takes the security of passengers seriously.
DYK? We have an RCMP detachment based at the airport, along with our own security services and staff constantly monitoring. We also have our own fire hall with full response Emergency Services teams for medical and fire emergencies. Our emergency services teams also help with emergencies including vehicle collisions and more in Leduc County in our immediate area. More information is available here.
If you see suspicious behaviour or have a security concern at YEG please contact 780-890-8999.
Human Trafficking
Edmonton International Airport works closely with all police agencies and several community partners to combat and raise awareness of human trafficking in our region. To date, almost 2,000 workers in the airport community have been trained on human trafficking awareness and mitigation.
You may see signs or other posters in specific locations throughout the airport about this campaign.
