Checking in at Edmonton International Airport

Follow these tips to ensure you have a smooth check-in and an enjoyable trip.

Check In Passenger

Arrive at the airport with time to spare

For travel within Canada, we recommend you arrive 2 hours before your flight.

For international travel, passengers should arrive 3 hours in advance. Passengers travelling non-stop to US destinations must clear US Customs and Border Protection before boarding, and you may need extra time.

Online & mobile check-in

Save time and avoid lines by checking in online from your computer or mobile device. Most airlines allow you to check-in online 24 to 48 hours in advance of departure.

You can print out your boarding pass, or you can have the electronic boarding pass delivered to your smartphone. At the airport, visit a self-service kiosk in the Departure Hall to print your baggage tags.

Self-service kiosk or airline desk check-in

Self-service kiosks are also available to check into your flight and receive boarding passes and baggage tags. Self-service check-in kiosks are found throughout the Departure Hall.

You can also go to your airline’s check-in desk for assistance checking in or printing your boarding pass and baggage tags.

Baggage Drop

After checking in, you’ll receive boarding passes and baggage tags.

Attach the baggage tags to your luggage and go to your airline’s baggage drop area. Follow the directions for placing your luggage into the drop area. Now, you can go through security.

Travelling with a carry-on only? If you have your boarding pass, you can go straight to security.

Make sure you have the correct identification

For travel within Canada:

  • Passengers 18 years of age or older must have government issued identification with a photo or two pieces of non-photo government issued identification including the person’s name and at least one piece must include date of birth and gender
  • Passengers between the ages of 2-18 must have an original birth certificate or non-government issued identification, such as a student card
  • An original birth certificate or photocopy is required for passengers under 2 years of age

For international travel outside of Canada:

  • A valid passport is required for all passengers
