July 12, 2007 | General
Edmonton —United Airlines recently announced that United Express carrier SkyWest will add nonstop, twice-daily, regional-jet service from Edmonton, Alberta to Chicago, Illinois, on October 4, 2004. Tickets are now on sale.
For Edmonton travellers, this new service offers the convenience of nonstop service to United’s largest hub and provides access to United’s extensive worldwide route network.
“Edmonton is an important business and leisure market, and we are delighted to add new service to our hometown city of Chicago, to supplement our existing twice-daily Denver service,” said Richard Carret, United Airlines General Manager, Sales – Canada. “This service will allow Edmonton and Northern Alberta travellers more convenient connections to Eastern and Midwest USA markets.”
Beyond Chicago, this United Express service will provide travellers with convenient one-stop access to more than 60 destinations within the United States and internationally to cities in Europe, Latin America and the Pacific. These travellers also will have the opportunity to collect and use frequent-flier miles in both United’s Mileage Plus program and Air Canada’s Aeroplan® program.
“We welcome this important air link between our two regions,” states Edmonton Airports President and CEO Scott Clements. “Chicago is an important international connection for business, and there is significant demand for nonstop service connecting our region to United’s extensive air service network. We are pleased to see this important carrier continue to invest in our community and expand their nonstop services.”
United Express will operate this service with the new 70-seat Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ), known for its comfort, speed, and fuel efficiency. This jet seats passengers two-across, providing all customers with an aisle or window seat. The CRJ reaches cruising speeds of 515 mph, and is extremely popular with air carriers and passengers.
The new service will commence October 4, 2004 and will have the following schedule:
