EDMONTON — Edmonton Airports President Scott Clements today announced that Edmonton International Airport will be hosting a visit from Royal Airlines on October 17 in which new winter services will be launched.

On behalf of Canadian Holidays, Royal will introduce services from Edmonton International which include:

Edmonton-Phoenix non-stop
Edmonton-Las Vegas non-stop
Edmonton-Reno direct
Edmonton-Puerta Vallarta direct

“These services are currently scheduled for our winter season,” said Royal spokesman Jimmy Gabay, “but we also hope to be able to further develop the Edmonton market in the future with a range of U.S. and international destinations.”

Details of the new services will be outlined by Montreal-based Royal during an official launch at the Edmonton International Airport on October 17. The launch will include a city-wide tour aboard a Royal aircraft for local media and travel industry personnel.

Gabay noted that in order to facilitate the new routes, Royal will begin basing an aircraft in Edmonton, and will commence hiring in the Edmonton area for flight crews.

Royal will also offer non-stop B-727/200 services between Edmonton and Vancouver; and Edmonton and Toronto on its winter schedule.

“We are pleased with the confidence Royal and Canadian Holidays are showing in the future of our marketplace,” said Clements. “Consolidation of passenger air services at the International will create the environment which Edmonton Airports needs in order to attract more and better flights for our region.”
