Pickets May Cause Minor Delays on Roadways; Terminal Services Remain Unaffected

· On Monday, July 31, 2000, strike action was initiated by PSAC, the bargaining agent for 115 Edmonton Airports employees, at Edmonton International Airport. These employees are employed in a variety of areas including accounting, field and general maintenance, environmental services, information booth, marketing, planning and engineering and real estate services.
· PSAC communicates that job security and wages are the main issues:
· Edmonton Airports provides employment security in the event of contracting out through provisions in the previous contract. Edmonton Airports is prepared to maintain those employment security provisions.
· The average wage of a unionized employee is $21 an hour. In addition, Edmonton Airports is offering a 14.25% wage increase over 5 years.
