EDMONTON — Edmonton Airports today welcomed Northwest Airlines’ announcement to add a third daily non-stop Edmonton-Minneapolis flight.

This additional non-stop flight will commence April 2, using an A319 aircraft. It will depart Edmonton at 9:50 am, arriving in Minneapolis (MSP) at 1:40 pm. It will depart Minneapolis at 4:50 pm, arriving in Edmonton at 6:54 pm.

The introduction of the A319 aircraft in 1999 has provided additional capacity, and enhanced customer service to travellers.

Edmonton Airports President and CEO Scott Clements states, “The scope of this additional service is significant; in addition to providing more frequency, this flight will offer many more options to connect conveniently to beyond destinations. Northwest Airlines remains a key partner in providing air service to our region, and we welcome this enhanced service.”

In 2000, transborder passenger traffic (travel between Canada and the United States) at Edmonton International Airport increased by 18.2% over 1999. The introduction of Northwest Airlines’ third service will provide additional capacity and choice for travellers destined to the United States.
