New directors appointed to Edmonton Airports Board of Directors

Edmonton — Edmonton Airports Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members, replacing three long-serving directors whose terms expired at the end of 2006.
“Our board is made up of some of the region’s most respected business and community leaders and all of my colleagues look forward to working with our newest distinguished members,” says Margaret Bateman, Chair of Edmonton Airports Board of Directors. “At the same time, we thank our departing members for their valuable contributions to the success of Edmonton Airports.”
Robert Carwell, appointed by Strathcona County, is the President and CEO of the MTE Logistix Group of Companies. Carwell is the current Chair of the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors and serves on many other local organization and industry association boards.
Carwell replaces Peter Bidlock, who served from Jan.1, 1999 to Dec. 31, 2006.
James Funk, from the City of Edmonton, was appointed by Transport Canada. He is the President and General Manager of Lube-X and serves on numerous local boards, including the Edmonton Opera and University of Alberta Alumni Association.
Funk replaces Larry Prokop, who served from Nov. 17, 1998 to Dec. 31, 2006.
Rolly Owens, appointed by the City of Leduc, is the Chief Financial Officer with Park Memorial Ltd. A former City of Leduc councillor, Owens is also a veteran of many local boards and was the Chair of the Regional Water Commission for nine years.
Owens replaces Gordon Riddell, who served from Jan. 1, 1999 to Dec. 31, 2006.
As well, board veteran Gary Hanson was re-appointed to the board for his second term and Allister McPherson was re-appointed as the board’s Vice-Chair for 2007.
Edmonton Airports is a non-share corporation charged with managing Edmonton International Airport, Edmonton City Centre Airport, Villeneuve Airport and Cooking Lake Airport in the best interests of the entire Edmonton region. Edmonton Airports reports to a 15-person board with representation from the City of Edmonton, Leduc County, The City of Leduc, Strathcona County, Sturgeon County, Parkland County, and the Federal Government.
