EDMONTON – Edmonton Airports today announced that the Laidlaw Transit Ltd. proposal for taxi services at Edmonton International Airport has been accepted. The contract is for a five year term, commencing May 1, 2001.

The previous contract, operated through a taxi consortium, will expire April 30, 2001.

Yellow Cab, Prestige Cabs, Barrel Taxi Ltd. and Checker Cabs (Edmonton) Inc. comprise Laidlaw’s taxi fleets.

Laidlaw Transit Ltd. has committed to service delivery standards for both pre-arranged and on-demand service. In addition, Laidlaw is positioned to respond to the increased demand for taxi service for special events like the 2001 Championships in Athletics.

Edmonton International Airport incorporates a closed-stand, which allows Edmonton Airports to work in partnership with service providers to maintain appropriate supply and establish superior customer service levels.
