EDMONTON – Federal Express Canada Ltd. is pleased to announce the launch of regularly scheduled Boeing 727 service to the Edmonton market. Effective today, customers can look forward to faster, more efficient service from points within Canada, the U.S. and around the world.

By making this significant commitment of resources to the Edmonton market, FedEx has not only increased its lift capacity by more than 20,000 pounds but is poised to offer its customer base more service options than ever before.

“We are extremely pleased to be offering this enhanced service to our customers,” said Arthur Stanley, FedEx’s Managing Director of Operations, Western Canada. “The decision to increase our lift capacity was a combination of several key factors. First, our employees have done a masterful job of building a very loyal customer base by delivering outstanding service. Second, our customers have steadily increased usage over time and with the current activity in the oil sector inherent to the local economy, FedEx is poised to offer a greater number of logistics options to move increasingly larger pieces of freight on a time-definite basis.”

Stanley adds that the cooperation and support from the Edmonton Regional Airports Authority as well as Edmonton’s importance as a business centre were important factors in FedEx’s decision to increase its lift capacity to the city.
