Emergency Response Exercise to be conducted at Edmonton International Airport
Edmonton — Edmonton Airports, will be conducting an emergency response exercise tomorrow, September 9, at Edmonton International Airport. This exercise, in compliance with Transport Canada Aerodrome Standards and Recommended Practices, will enable airport and emergency response personnel to review and practice emergency response procedures in the event of an incident.
This is a simulated aircraft and hangar fire requiring Edmonton Airports’ staff, emergency responders and tenants to respond. This exercise will be conducted on the general aviation apron which accommodates the unique operations of the tenants in that area.
Date: Tomorrow, Friday September 9, 2005
Time: Briefing at Shell Aerocentre at 8:00 am
Exercise begins promptly at 8:30 am (arrive no later than 8:15 am)
Location: Apron 2, Edmonton International Airport
Directions:
• travelling South on Hwy. 2 – turn right (West) onto Hwy. 19 (Nisku/Devon turn off)
• turn immediately left (South) onto Airport Service road
• proceed to 9th Avenue and turn right (West) and follow the road to the parking gate
• after obtaining your parking ticket proceed to the end of the road and park in the Flight Tech Shell Aerocentre parking lot
Background
For this exercise ONLY media will be involved as observers and will be given full access, under escort, to the simulation site.
Parking
Parking will be available in the Shell Aerocentre parking lot. For parking access to accommodate live broadcasts, please make arrangements with Corporate Communications prior to arriving at the airport.
