EIA urges customers to arrive early as parking nears capacity
July 02, 2007 | General
Edmonton — Edmonton International Airport (EIA) customers planning to park their vehicles onsite are strongly advised to arrive 30 minutes prior to recommended airline check-in times.
The urgent call from EIA comes as public parking nears capacity. Edmonton Airports asks customers to recognize that with double-digit passenger growth rates continuing at EIA, Parkade Park is full many times throughout the day, requiring travellers to park at Value Park (surface parking). This means that customers need to allow additional time to park and make their way to the airport for check-in and security screening.
All parking customers will be accommodated at EIA. Overflow parking has been arranged with bus service if Value Park and Parkade Park both reach capacity.
Parking customers using Value Park are reminded to check in with the dispatch booth as they enter the facility to ensure a bus is dispatched to pick them up and transport them to the terminal.
Ground transportation options
As an alternative to bringing vehicles to the airport, EIA customers can use a taxi service or use the Sky Shuttle service, which serves downtown, west end and university-area hotels. Sky Shuttle one-way rates are $15, with a discounted return fare of $25. Child (ages 3-12) fares are $7 each way.
Responding to growth
Edmonton Airports recognizes that customers require additional parking. In addition to the 2,000 new Value Park stalls built over the past two years, construction has begun on a 1,000-stall parkade, slated for completion in 2008.
