EIA adds another non-stop flight with Northern Air’s weekday service to Peace River

July 4, 2012(Edmonton, Alta.) – Edmonton International Airport (EIA) welcomed the first Northern Air flight into Edmonton International Airport.

Northern Air is an independent family owned airline that operates from Peace River, carrying passengers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between Peace River and Edmonton International Airport. Northern Air CEO Rob King was onboard the first ever Northern Air flight to EIA. “We see the move to Edmonton International Airport as an opportunity to grow our business,” said King. “We will work hard to ensure that our current passengers continue to enjoy top notch service and convenience, and we’re looking forward to welcoming new business as we move our service from the City Centre Airport to Edmonton International.”

Edmonton International Airport VP Strategy Peter McCart welcomed Rob King and Northern Air when their flight landed at the airport this morning. “We’re thrilled to welcome Northern Air to Edmonton International Airport,” said McCart. “We’ve frequently heard from our customers that there is a market to continue growing service to and from the North, so this additional route helps to meet that demand. We’re also very happy to be able to provide residents of Peace River with direct connections to many Canadian and international destinations including Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver, Minneapolis and Cancun.”

Northern Air previously flew into Edmonton City Centre Airport. Its lease at that facility recently expired, which prompted the move to Edmonton International Airport. Its last flight out of Edmonton City Centre Airport on June 29 was the last scheduled commercial flight to operate there.
