Edmonton Passenger Volumes Grew 6% in 1997
EDMONTON — Air passenger traffic in the Edmonton marketplace grew by 6% in 1997, Edmonton Airports reported today.
Edmonton International Airport handled 3,720,623 passengers in 1997, an increase of 199,299 over 1996, when the combined traffic from the Municipal and International Airports totalled 3,521,324.
“Six percent is a very comfortable growth figure,” said Scott Clements, President and CEO of Edmonton Airports. “The 1997 final result is just slightly higher than the volume we projected we would have this year. It is also comfortably ahead of the 3% annual growth rate that we will require in order to invest with confidence in a new Air Terminal Building at the International.”
Edmonton Airports is projecting 3% growth in passenger volumes in 1998.
