Edmonton lands even more International flavour in its Airport! Local investments add to EIA’s Expansion 2012 Edmonton, AB, July 23, 2012 – Edmonton International Airport (EIA) is proud to announce two new, locally-owned dining options for travellers. Caffè Sorrentino and Belgian Beer Café will join the EIA community when the expanded Domestic/International passenger lounge of the EIA Expansion opens in September 2012.“Our customers are continually asking for more dining choices, and we are acting on that,” says Myron Keehn, EIA Vice President of Commercial Development. “These are both locally-owned, family restaurants, with the international flavour travellers expect from an airport.”Caffè Sorrentino is a popular Italian restaurant that is already well known to the Capital Region with five locations already open in Edmonton. Caffè Sorrentino offers signature pastas, panini, soups, salads, pastries, gelato and of course, a premium Italian espresso. “As a locally owned business we are thrilled and honoured to have been given the opportunity by the EIA to showcase our franchise concept – Caffè Sorrentino, Italian Coffee Bar,” says Carmelo Rago, Caffè Sorrentino President. “Being a part of this beautiful, modern and much needed facility is exciting to say the least.  We look forward to serving our valued patrons of over 30 years as well as welcoming all visitors in true Edmonton style! ”Belgian Beer Café is a classic Belgian Bistro for the 21st Century, offering traditional European cuisine and beverage choices.  Belgian Beer Cafés can be found in 50 cities spread out over 19 countries and three continents, in Europe, Asia and Australia.  This will be its first Canadian location. “Opening a new restaurant is always cause for celebration, but this one is particularly significant and special” says Gerry Inglis, CEO and President of Speedy Creek (the group which owns and operates Chili’s Texas Grill in Western Canada).  “We are very fortunate to be partnering with a leader in airport excellence and believe this milestone demonstrates EIA’s commitment to develop and bring authentic flavours to all EIA travellers.  It is an exciting opportunity and we are delighted to be opening the first Canadian Belgian Beer Café, at EIA.”Other recent additions to EIA include Metalsmiths Sterling and Coney Island Candy, with Cookies by George opening later this summer.  A total of 34 new shops and services will be serving travellers in EIA by the end of 2012.  Other new areas of EIA still to open include a Central Tower (housing NAV Canada air-traffic control and administrative offices in December 2012), and a 210 room Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, (developed by Platinum Investments Ltd.) connected to EIA in 2013.- 30 -Media Contact: EIA                                Caffè Sorrentino                         Belgian Beer Café Chris Chodan                  Carmelo Rago                                Aidan Inglis
