EDMONTON – In honour of the memory of the victims of the disasters which have taken place in the United States, the Government of Canada has declared Friday, September 14, 2001 a National Day of Mourning. This morning at 10:20 am, Edmonton International Airport staff and passengers observed three minutes of silence to honour the memories of victims.
The last of the six diverted flights, an Asiana flight, is tentatively scheduled to depart from Edmonton International Airport at 20:00, September 14th destined for New York (JFK). Passengers have been recalled to the airport.

Flight Operations Update:
Edmonton International Airport is operating a significantly improved flight schedule for domestic departures/arrivals today; however, passengers are urged to check with their airline to confirm their flight before travelling to the airport. On a normal day, an estimated 210 to 215 arrivals and departures are handled; today, we are planning for 189 arrivals and departures.
First outbound international flight:
Air Transat’s flight destined for Frankfurt departed on September 13th at 21:20.
First inbound international flight:
Air Transat’s flight from Frankfurt is expected to arrive at 17:10 on September 14th.
Travellers should be aware that there will be delays at the airport. Increased security measures are being maintained, as directed by Transport Canada. Once travellers have confirmed their departure with their airline, they are advised to report to the airport two hours before a domestic flight and three hours for flights to U.S. and International destinations.
