Edmonton Airports Chooses New Chair, Vice-Chair

EDMONTON — Sid Hanson of Edmonton has been unanimously chosen the new chairman of the Board of Directors for Edmonton Airports, while Jim Hansen of Leduc was also chosen unanimously to be Vice-Chairman, Edmonton Airports announced today.
Sid Hanson, an appointee of the Board whose term expires on December 31, 1997, is President of Petrokey Petroleums Inc., a fuel and lubricants distribution company based in Edmonton. He has been a member of the Edmonton Airports Board since its inception in 1990, when he was an appointee of the City of Edmonton. Hanson had served as Vice-Chair of the Board since December 1995.
Jim Hansen, an appointee of the City of Leduc whose term expires December 31, 1998, is President of of Western Hardwood Distributors Ltd., and Executive Vice-President of the Alberta Hotel Association. He has also been a member of the Board since its inception in 1990.
“Edmonton Airports has both many challenges and opportunities facing it,” said Hanson. “I will look to the organization to be very focused on the basics defined by its mission and in the achievement of its goals, including improved air service and economic development for the Edmonton region and for Northern Alberta.”
The Board of Directors of Edmonton Airports is appointed by the six municipalities in the Edmonton region. There are currently nine members sitting on the Board, with the City of Edmonton due to make four additional appointments in 1997. The Chairman and Vice-Chairman are elected by the Board members.
