EDMONTON — Disruptions to the access roadways and parking at Edmonton International Airport will begin on Tuesday, February 24.

Travellers should give themselves an extra five minutes if heading to the airport.

Construction of a parkade adjacent to the terminal building will get underway in early March. To prepare the site, all vehicles will be directed to park in the “Daily Parking” lot.

The “Daily Parking” lot remains open with 2400 parking spaces. Free shuttle buses will take parkers from their cars to and from the terminal building.

Travelers should watch for signs directing them to the parking lot entrance.

As construction begins, there will also be occasional delays caused by construction vehicles on the access roadways. Delays could affect all travelers, including those in cabs or shuttle buses, and those planning to pickup or drop off passengers.

Construction of the parkade will begin in early March. The parkade will have 1800 parking stalls, mostly covered and connected to the terminal building by protected walkways. It is expected to open in December 1998, in time for next winter.
