Edmonton, Alta. (Nov. 2, 2009) — Edmonton International Airport (EIA) and Continental Airlines today celebrated the successful launch of the new year-round Edmonton-Houston daily non-stop service. “The Houston service is a great addition for travellers from Edmonton and across northern Alberta,” says Reg Milley, EIA President and CEO. “Business travellers from northern Alberta’s energy sector now enjoy the quickest possible route to Houston, America’s oil capital. Houston also offers easy connections across the US, Central and South America. Now it’s up to Edmontonians to ensure the success of the new route. When people are making travel plans, it’s important to choose services like the new Continental flight or one of our other US and international non-stops to ensure these routes continue to be profitable and maintained in our community.”

From Houston, Continental serves more than 160 destinations with over 600 daily departures. Flights to and from Edmonton are timed to offer easy connections throughout the rest of the airline’s extensive global network. In addition to great flight options for business travellers, this Houston flight also offers connections to popular leisure destinations like Florida and the Caribbean. Continental is the newest member of the Star Alliance, meaning Aeroplan frequent flyers can earn valuable points when using the new Edmonton-Houston service.
