On September 25, 2000, the Federal Transport Ministry announced funding for Edmonton City Centre Airport of $345,000, under the Government of Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP).

The infrastructure funding will be used toward the installation of fibre optic guidance signs for the runway and taxiway. These improvements will help ensure City Centre Airport remains a safe and efficient facility. Approximately eight jobs will be created over the duration of the project.

ACAP is part of the National Airports Policy, which was announced in July, 1994. Under ACAP, airports may apply for funding towards capital projects related to safety, asset protection and operating cost reduction.

Edmonton City Centre Airport received $718,350 from ACAP in 1999, for the rehabilitation of Runway 12-30.
