YEG Master Plan 2048 Public Survey Results
Our region is growing, and so is our airport. The online survey for the YEG Master Plan 2048 provided a channel for stakeholders and members of the public to share their input on our growth and direction for the next 25 years.
The survey took place from October 25 to November 9, 2022, and garnered 4,878 responses in English and French.
The voice of the community
Survey results reflect airport users in our region. 90% of respondents were from Edmonton; 82% of them were working adults aged 25-64.
98% of respondents plan to fly in the next year and their main reason for travel is leisure.

1. Airport Terminal
Your priorities

Our commitment
We are currently working on a terminal redevelopment plan and we are continuing to improve every part of your experience from curb to gate.

We introduced YEG EXPRESS in the Fall of 2022 as a new option to reduce security wait times.
We are increasing low fare airline offerings and will be continuing to announce more options. Learn more about all non-stop destinations from YEG.
To mitigate curb traffic congestion, YEG offers a cell phone waiting area, numerous parking options, Priority Valet and on-airport transit. We also work with our partners to provide efficient bus, taxi and shuttle service to and from the airport. We use traffic ambassadors to move traffic along during busy times and will continue increasing the public’s awareness and usage of alternative parking and transportation options.
2. Airport City Sustainability Campus

Our commitment
The Airport City Sustainability Campus is continuing to expand our restaurants and entertainment options. We are currently home to the Premium Outlet Collection-YEG, two Marriot branded hotels and restaurants, RedTail Landing Golf Club, Costco Wholesale, Century Mile Racetrack and Casino and RAD Torque Raceway.
The Airport City Sustainability Campus is an integrated ecosystem that spurs collaboration and innovation while fostering the commercialization of emerging clean technologies.
- We have made the commitment to becoming North America’s first airport hydrogen hub
- We will be breaking ground on the world’s largest airport-based solar farm in partnership with Alpin Sun on our southwestern lands

3. Air Service

Our vision is More Flights to More Places! We are continuing to collaborate with airline partners for increased connections around the world.
YEG is proud to offer more non-stop destinations than before the pandemic and will continue to drive growth and increase flight frequencies around the world.

- KLM’s service between YEG and Amsterdam is increasing from twice weekly to four times weekly starting April 1, 2023
- Condor will be offering non-stop service between YEG and Frankfurt, Germany starting May 26, 2023
- WestJet is increasing transborder connectivity from YEG with new non-stop service to Minneapolis, Minnesota and Seattle, Washington as part of its 2023 summer schedule

Our commitment
In the long-term we aim to continue exemplifying leadership in sustainability. Everything we do is aligned with our partners and dedicated to environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG).
- We are the first airport in the world to sign The Climate Pledge, an initiative led by Amazon, pledging to be carbon neutral by 2040
- YEG and Air Canada signed the world’s first sustainability agreement between an airline and an airport. We are focusing on initiatives promoting a cleaner environment
- Our airport terminal was the first in Canada to receive LEED® Gold certification. The energy intensity of our terminal was reduced by almost 50 per cent while doubling the size of the building.
- We are first airport in Canada to begin regularly scheduled drone delivery operations in a controlled airspace, using zero-emission drones to conduct final-mile delivery service.
- Our Community Investment Program strives to support over 100 charities and organizations annually.
- We are striving to be an Airport for Everyone. We are working to ensure YEG is an accessible and welcoming airport.
