EIA master plan
Big plans to serve a growing population
Our region is growing.
The Edmonton Metro population is expected to double in the next 30 years to 2.2 million.
If we include surrounding communities like Fort Saskatchewan, Beaumont, and Spruce Grove, our regional population is forecast to reach 3 million people.
With this tremendous growth comes increased air travel and demand for new services and developments.
The EIA Master Plan guides the development of the airport facilities and services over the next 25 years.
It’s essentially a blueprint to guide how and where we expand and develop our services. It helps us address a growing population and changing demand for travel and cargo transportation.
The Master Plan is updated and approved by Transport Canada every 10 years.
It is a long-term, guiding document that is also adaptable. We carefully consider each development and weigh the changing economic, social, environmental and regulatory conditions at the time. We rely on input from our stakeholders and the public to review and update the Master Plan every 10 years.
