Dr. Katherine Chubbs, RN, BN, MHS, CHE, DBA

Dr. Katherine Chubbs is the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Good Samaritan Society and Good Samaritan Canada.  Before joining Good Samaritan, her extensive career in healthcare included serving as the Chief Zone Officer in the south zone for Alberta Health Services, as Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Eastern Health in Newfoundland and Labrador, as the Director of Professional Practice, Infection Prevention and Control, and Rural Services for Alberta Health Services, and as the Director of Acute Care Services for Labrador Health.  She is currently a professor with both the University of Lethbridge and Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Katherine is a registered nurse by profession and has worked in a wide variety of healthcare settings as a frontline nurse and healthcare leader.  She has completed a Diploma and Batchelor of Nursing degree and a Certificate program in Northern Nursing, a Master’s degree in Health Studies-Leadership, and is a certified Health Executive. She also holds an Executive Doctoral degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Healthcare Management.

Katherine is the former President of the Academy of Canadian Executive Nurses and the former Chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter of the Canadian College of Health Leaders.  She is the owner and Principal Consultant for Northern Lights Leadership and Design.  Katherine has been the recipient of many awards, most notably the National Healthcare Mentor of the Year Award, the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Leader of the Year Award, and she recently won the Canadian College of the Year National Award for Community Service.  

Katherine is a proud Indigenous Labradorian and can often be found at her church or in her neighbourhood’s seniors facility leading worship or doing other community activities.
