Travelling to the United States

US Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) manages the movement of people and goods into the United States.

Hours: 4:30 am until the last flight departs, usually 6:30 pm

Effective July 20-September 5, 2017, USCBP will be closed on Saturdays from 8:00 am - 10:00 am and Sundays and Thursdays from 8:30 am - 10:30 am.

Location for Departing Passengers

For non-stop travel to the US it is recommended that passengers arrive no later than three hours prior to their flight's scheduled departure time to allow for any delays at check-in, security screening as well as the clearance process with US Customs and Border Protection. Please confirm recommended and required check in times with your airline directly.

After you have checked-in with your airline for your non-stop flight to the US, you will remain on Departures Level 2 and proceed south, passing the Delta check-in counters and entering a wide corridor where you will pass WestJet (US) check-in counters. After dropping your checked bags on the appropriate bag drop belt you will continue south to go through the screening process. Following that, you will be processed through US Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) and continue in to our US Departures Lounge.

Automated Passport control at USCBP 

You are now able to use dedicated automated passport control (APC) kiosks at EIA. These kiosks are designed to help expedite your time through customs in the US.

If you are travelling to the US, new kiosks have been provided by US Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) to speed your entry and improve security.
Just read the onscreen instructions to see the five easy steps:

  1. Scan your passport
  2. Take your photo with the camera on the kiosk
  3. Answer the customs declaration on the touchscreen
  4. Collect your receipt
  5. Take the receipt to a USCBP Officer

US and Canadian passport holders and can use the kiosks. The kiosks can even be used by more than one person at a time as long as they all live at the same address. The kiosks can communicate in English, French, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Dutch, German, Chinese or Japanese. APC is a free service, which does not require pre-registration or membership. APC maintains the highest levels of protection of personal information.

The following travelers at EIA are eligible for APC use:

  • United States Citizens presenting a US Passport
  • Canadian Citizens presenting a Canadian passport and entering under B1 or B2 Class of Admissiong
  • United States Lawful Permanent Residents (US LPR) presenting a C1 or C2 document.

The APC Service is an internet facing web service that the Kiosk System will utilize to allow a traveler or traveler group to complete an expedited inspection.

The USCBP Public Window is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, and we are closed on all U.S. and Canadian Holidays.

They are located on the far south end of Departures Level 2. Once on Departures Level 2 you will proceed south, passing the Delta check-in counters and entering a wide corridor where you will pass WestJet (US) check-in counters. Continue walking south and just after the bag drop belt and before the US Departures screening point you will see the entrance to their office on your left hand side.
