New off-ramp from QE2 eases congestion and improves safety
October 31, 2017 (Edmonton, AB) Edmonton International Airport (EIA) is pleased to announce that construction is complete on its Airport Road improvement project. One key aspect of this improvement is the creation of five lanes on the southbound to westbound off-ramp from the QE2, with one dedicated right free-flow lane towards the terminal, two left-turn lanes into Nisku and two straight lanes into the south development lands, giving additional access to Alberta Health Services, cargo and logistics operations and the Premium Outlet Collection – EIA.
“We are very excited about the work that has been completed,” said Steve Rumley, EIA Vice President, Infrastructure. “Signalized intersections along Airport Road are already reducing traffic congestion into and out of the airport.”
This completed work, alongside the current improvements being done by Leduc County and the City of Leduc on Airport Road on the East side of the QE2, will increase vehicle capacity for future regional and EIA growth.
